Greg Sheehan: President and CEO
Salt Lake City, UT – Conservation leader Greg Sheehan has been appointed as President and CEO of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF). He brings to this role over 20 years of leadership experience in habitat and wildlife conservation and substantial experience working with federal and state agencies.
One of Sheehan’s most significant accomplishments includes his efforts in increasing Utah’s mule deer population by over 100,000 through innovative habitat restoration initiatives, predator management programs, and strategic translocations.
Most recently, Sheehan served as the Utah State Director of the US Bureau of Land Management, where he managed millions of acres of public lands and worked with a diverse array of stakeholders to implement effective land management strategies. Previously, as Director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and as Director of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, his accomplishments include achievements in wildlife population restoration, habitat conservation, and increased access for sportsmen.
The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is the only conservation group in North America dedicated to restoring, improving and conserving mule deer and black-tailed deer and their habitat, with a focus on science and program efficiency. MDF is a strong voice for hunters in access, wildlife management and conservation policy issues. MDF acknowledges regulated hunting as a viable management component and is committed to recruitment and retention of men, women and youth into the shooting sports and conservation.
