Lauren Kras: Executive Director

Lauren Kras

Holderness, NH – Lauren Kras has been named Executive Director of Squam Lakes Conservation Society land trust. She brings significant land stewardship experience to this role including monitoring conservation easements, ensuring stewardship of fee owned lands, and engaging diverse and underserved communities around conservation.

Most recently, Kras was the South East Regional Director of Mass Audubon in Lincoln, MA, where she managed 22 wildlife sanctuaries. Previously, she served as Conservation Easement Steward for the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests in Concord. She has also taught biology at the University of New Hampshire and served on the Board of Directors of New Hampshire Audubon. Earlier in her career, Kras served as a Wildlife Biologist at Normandeau Associates in NH. In addition to her passion for the outdoors, Kras is an expert birdwatcher and agility dog trainer.

The Squam Lakes Conservation Society (SLCS) is an accredited land trust whose mission is to preserve the unique quality and character of the Squam watershed by protecting its lands for present and future generations. Located in the central Lakes Region of New Hampshire, the Squam Lakes watershed covers nearly 37,000 acres in an area that is 85% forested.
