Maha Worden: Executive Director
Waukegan, IL– Maha Worden, a tireless advocate for helping children and families thrive, has been named Executive Director of Beacon Place neighborhood community center in Waukegan. Throughout her career, Worden has demonstrated a passion for helping at-risk youth both through direct service and advocacy.
Worden comes to Beacon Place from the Illinois Collaboration on Youth where she served as the organization’s Chief Program Officer responsible for the work of the Prevention and Intervention, Trauma Initiatives and Training Teams. Earlier in her career, Worden worked in training and operations for CASA Kane County providing continuing education and support for volunteers to become the Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem for children entering the foster care system.
Worden began her career as a Family Teacher at Mooseheart Child City and School where she was a mentor and life coach to residential students in need, teaching life skills and implementing individual treatment plans. She was promoted to Quality Improvement: Training Coordinator where she partnered with a team to drive safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
As a neighborhood community center, Beacon Place provides support for community families through the belief that the power of change in a neighborhood comes from families working together.
