Advocate and attorney Carrie Boyd has been selected as , the federally designated statewide coalition of domestic violence services providers for the State of Illinois.

During her career, Boyd has worked as a nonprofit executive director, lobbyist, lawyer, business leader, elected official, gubernatorial appointee, and political campaigns director. At the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, she served as Director of Policy & Systems Advocacy from 2015-2019. In this role, she joined Coalition members and allies to lead the lobbying efforts of more than 50 domestic violence agencies and successfully secure approximately $20 million in crucial funds during a time of political gridlock and the two-year absence of a state budget. She also directed ICADV’s Virtual Legal Clinic, a first of its kind tech-driven, pro bono legal services platform dedicated solely to serving domestic violence survivors.

Most recently, Boyd served as Commissioner and Past Chair of the Tallahassee/Leon County Commission on the Status of Women & Girls. Previously, she served as Executive Director of the Legal Aid Foundation in Tallahassee, Florida and as Policy Director of the Southern Poverty Law Center & SPLC Action Fund, out of Montgomery, Alabama.

As a trial lawyer, Boyd devoted her time to primarily serving women, families and violence survivors with a niche of domestic violence-related litigation.

The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) is the federally designated statewide coalition of domestic violence services providers for the State of Illinois. With over 50 member organizations providing direct service to families throughout Illinois, together ICADV works towards ending domestic violence in Illinois.
